Tips for Creating an Ocean Retreat in Your Home

Shannon Frye
Most of us love everything about the ocean. Since most of us never get the chance to see the ocean many times, we would all like to create our own ocean retreat right inside of our homes. It's very easily done and you can create any room in your home no matter what size the room is. Perhaps one of your children would like to have an ocean retreat in his or her bedroom. If you live near the ocean you can do a little bit more with this than somebody who doesn't.

The first thing that you can do is make a large mural on one of your walls. You can create an ocean right on your wall of the room. You can also paint the ceiling to look like the sky so that when you look up you feel as if you are laying on the beach. You can do this yourself by sponge painting or you can call somebody to come over and pay them to do it instead. If you don't want to paint a mural you can paint a certain part of the room such as the walls with a light blue color or a sandy beach color.

You can purchase a large net and hang it from the wall. You can place items on the net which you have found from the beach. You can tie fishing line around sea shells and hang them up on the net. Most sea shells will have a small hole near the base of the sea shell. You can purchase shells online to use for your net. You can place driftwood on the net and other things related to the ocean.

You can purchase some lawn chairs to place in the room if you would like to. You can purchase large fish that you can hang on the wall that resemble saltwater fish. You can make your own saltwater fish. You can hang up pictures of saltwater fish. One good way to purchase some fish is on the internet. There are actually plastic fish which are painted to look like real fish. You won't spend a lot of money and there's no better way of purchasing fake fish.

You can also hang up real saltwater fish that you have caught. You paid a lot of money for these fish so why not display them where you can see them. You can paint the room to match all of these pictures and fish that you have on the wall.
