Ian A Cook, Director of Depression Research at UCLA says that people with depression and anxiety may have difficulty width complete wellness. It may take longer for treatment. They have more severe symptoms more impairment, higher risk of killing themselves, and trouble finding the right treatment.
Many of these experts try different approaches to treating these conditions. If the depression is the core problem, then that's what some doctors will concentrate on first. Once it's under control then they'll focus on the anxiety. Others will try and combat them both simultaneously. They have pretty good treatments for either one of these conditions.
There are several ways of treating depression and anxiety. Some of these medications combat both depression and anxiety at the same time. It's important tat you get the righty medication for you. Associate Professor at John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Dean F. Mackinnon, MD says that the safest and easiest to use are Laxapro and Zoloft.
Another treatment is therapy. Talking may help but (CBT) Cognitive Behavior Therapy is said to be best. This is a method of identifying the cause and changing thoughts or behaviors. You se the world as a bad place, but CBT reconstructs those thought s into more positive ones.
Anti-anxiety medications such as Ativan or Xarax can quickly control your symptoms of anxiety, but a lot of doctors are not favorable about prescribing them dir to long term dependency. MacKinnon says that some patients benefit from mood stabilizers who; suffer from both anxiety and depression. Top drugs of this type are lithium, antipsychotic drugs, and antiepileptic drugs.
Last but not least, lifestyle changes. Eat well and get lots of sleep. Don't rely on drugs or alcohol to calm you. Exercise as much as you can using yoga techniques as well as breathing exercises.
