Tips for Decorating Your Car for Christmas

Sometimes a Little Can Go a Long Way

Ah the wonder and beauty of the holidays. From family coming together, to great food and gatherings, there is almost nothing like the beauty of Christmas. Of course, what some most look forward to about the holiday season is there chance to decorate. There are any number of ways to express yourself and show your creativity when it comes to decking out your house for the holiday. Flashy light displays and loaded Christmas trees may do the job for some, but others simply want more. So, when your house, tree and lawn are taken care of, what's next? For those who love decorating, the solution is simple: your car.

However, finding the right materials and ideas to decorate your car with can sometimes seem a bit difficult. Remember that we not only have taste to account for, but safety as well. As you do go about your decorating and deciding, remember that holiday spirit should never come before road safety. With that in mind, there are a few simple things that you can do to make any car a little jollier for the holiday season.

One very simple thing you can do, and usually a good first step, is to simply write some holiday messages on your vehicle. They sell specific window marking chalk at almost auto parts store, and if your lucky, you may be able to find it in fun colors (i.e. red and green) to match the holiday season. After finding it, and the colors that you prefer, go ahead and deck out your windows. Just make sure that you leave enough room to see out of the back windshield (if you choose to write on it). The back door windows are always a good choice. You would be surprised what a little writing can do to specializing your car for the holidays.

For those who want to go a couple of steps further, remember that all "window clings" sold to decorate house windows will also work on car window. Using stickers themselves might want to be avoided, as they will be hard to get off, and may permanently mark your car when they come off. Although it is somewhat difficult to find, some auto store sell colored tire spray. This easily washes off when your done, and will not stain your car, but will make the tires themselves appear a certain color. Red is usually easy to find, and can add one more interesting and unique holiday touch to your vehicle.

Many have also gone the route of attaching a wreath or antler to the grill of the car. This can look fairly interesting, the only thing to make sure of is that the wreath is actually secure, you definitely do not want to risk it coming off on the road while driving. If your car has an antenna, you can always do something interesting with that as well. A decoration or antlers or small wreath can be placed on the antenna to further add to the holiday theme that your car has going for it.

Another interesting idea can also be found at your local National Auto or AutoZone. Since many young drivers like the look, you can purchase small lights that attach to the inside of your rim, and give it a ring of color when the wheel is spinning at night. These lights are fairly cheap, and if you alternate the wheels you use them on, you can have a great and unique holiday decoration idea for a very minimal price.

After the outside of your vehicle is done, working on the inside is always an option as well. Give a thorough cleaning first to make sure that whatever your going to do complements the interior, and doesn't simply add to whatever may be in it at the time. You can tie some small ornaments to string to hang around your rear-view mirror, and colored or themed seat covers are almost always available. You can also decorate your back seat with empty presents, or perhaps Christmas themed pillows and blankets.

However you choose to decorate your car for Christmas, remember that there is no right or wrong way. The choice is yours. Just remember to keep it safe: don't block your line of vision or put anything in your vehicle that will make it harder to drive. As long as you keep it safe and use some creativity, there is almost no limit to the amount of ways that you can decorate your car for Christmas.
