Tips for Decorating Your Child's Playroom

Playrooms are a great way to encourage interaction with toys and other children. By decorating your child's playroom you are creating a space that you child will like to go to. It will also reduce clutter as well as creating a safe place for your child to play. If your child is old enough, encourage your child to help with the decision making involving decorating the play room. If your child isn't old enough, choose decor that your child likes. If there is a theme at your child likes such as Dora, you can paint a mural of Dora on the wall of your child's playroom.

You will want to first decide which room you will create as a playroom. You want a room which is safe and large enough. You want to pick a room that is close to other rooms in your home. You don't want to have to run downstairs to check on your child when your child is playing. Choose a room that you can keep an eye on to make sure that everything is going well.

You will want to choose a color of paint. Perhaps you will choose one solid color or you will paint a mural on the walls. You want to pick something that your child likes. You can choose to paint the room in two colors instead of one. The decision is up to you and your child. Do not move anything into the room until the fumes are gone and the paint is dry. To help the room dry you can place a fan in the room or open up a few windows. Once the paint has dried you will then choose what to place in the room.

Bring major items into the room first. If you are placing any desks or tables bring these into the room first. Every child likes a desk or a table that the child can sit at to color and draw. You will then want to bring in a small couch that you child can sit at. Bring in everything and place the bigger items in place first. Fill in all of the extra spaces with other large toys. You will then need to purchase several toy chests to place all the small toys in. Make sure to cover the outlets in the room and make the room safe for your child.

To save some room, fold up or put away really large toys that your child wont play with at that time. You can purchase a chalk board and hang it up on the wall for your child to draw and color. This room should be fun and vibrant. Remember to let your child help you with picking out decor and items to put in the playroom.
