You will then want to take a good look at your deck and your porch. If your deck needs to be painted or stained again, you will want to do this now. You don't want to see pealing paint or a deck which has seen to much sun. You will want to grab paint or stain for your deck and then put some type of weather sealant on top of the deck so you wont need to do this again for a long time to come. Once the paint or stain is dry we can move on to the next step.
Take a look at your porch. If you can paint the wood on your porch you can go ahead and do so. If your porch is cement you can use water based paint or acid stain to create a tile look on your porch. You can also purchase ceramic tile to glue onto the cement on your porch. You will need to do all areas to make sure that the front side isn't still cement.
You can then purchase some hooks to place on the different wooden beams on your porch and deck. You will want to purchase large decorative hooks which you can hang plants from and other decorations. You will want to purchase some large and leafy outdoor plants that you can hang from the hooks. You can hang up some wind chimes and lanterns to give your outdoor areas some light and color. You can also purchase large pedestal style vases and plant different colored plants inside of them. The more color the better. You will also want to wash down all of your furniture or buy new furniture if possible. If you can get away with washing down the furniture than you can do that as well. You can also purchase some large torches that you can light to keep the bugs away. These will add decoration and they function good as well.
