Tips on Designing a Ballerina Themed Little Girl's Room

Jenne Joy
Ballet-themed bedrooms are popular for younger, aspiring ballerinas; especially those who are currently involved in ballet classes (or even in gymnastics.) Finding all of the right items to fit into this themed bedroom may prove to be time-consuming and difficult, especially if you don't know where to start or what's available. Fortunately, there are plenty of websites that offer adorable ballet and ballerina-themed items for your little girl's room.

Ballet-Themed Wall Art

A room is never complete without the appropriate wall art and there are a plethora of choices when it comes to ballet and ballerina themed wall art. If you're doing a little less theme-y and a little more sophisticated, consider this print called "Grace in Motion" which features an elegant ballerina in black and white ($37.99 for a 24 inch by 36 inch print at AllPosters.com)

If that doesn't quite fit your taste, another good option is "The Academy" by Cristina Mavaracchio ($39.99 for a 39.5 by 19.5 inch print, also at AllPosters.com.) "The Academy" features three ballerinas practicing in a ballet studio with a view overlooking the big city.

Of course, there are also prints themed more toward children such as "Felicity Wishes XVI" by Emma Thompson. This 8 by 10 is only $9.99 so you'll be able to splurge on a few different prints.

Ballet-Themed Lighting

Lighting is a crucial part in good design. It helps you focus on the entire room or it can be task orientated (such as a desk lamp.) A bedside table lamp is ideal for before-bed reading or even doing late-night homework. This lamp from LightingDirect.com can be used as both. It's a little pricey at $149.40, but it's downright beautiful so don't be surprised if it ends up as a family heirloom for your little girl to pass down to her children or grandchildren.

Ballerina-Themed Bedding

For $86.99, Amazon.com has this twin sized ballerina-themed quilt. It features several ballerinas in different colored skirts, so it will fit into a non-pink ballet-themed room if your little girl isn't too keen on all-pink.

Of course, it doesn't stop there. There are ballet-themed light switch plates, dresser drawer knobs, wall murals, height tracking charts and so on and so forth. So be sure to really look for all the right items to fit into your little girl's room. Don't settle just because you think there are no other options out there.

All of these items aside, always keep in mind your own little girl. Consider working with her to find the best items for her room, rather than deciding everything for her (unless of course, she's too young to help yet.) By incorporating her choices into her room, you'll be sure to create a sanctuary that she'll truly love.
