We are told by health experts that in order to live a healthy life, we must drink eight 8 ounce servings of water every day. There are even other health experts who will say you should drink half of your body weight in water every day. This means that if you weigh 160 pounds, you should drink 80 ounces of water every day. This is a lot of water! The problem is, while we are told to drink our water, we are not given a guide for making this goal easier. Here are some tips that will make drinking water easier.

Tip 1

First, set a daily goal for yourself. Either drink 64 ounces each day, or drink half of your body weight in water each day. Without a goal in mind, you have nothing to work toward. Write this goal down somewhere where you can see it throughout the day. Put it on the fridge, in the top desk drawer at your office, or anywhere else you often look.

Tip 2

Keep a cup or bottle of water by your side at all times. If you get thirsty it is sitting right next to you and this makes it easier to take a sip.

Tip 3

When you first wake up in the morning you naturally feel thirsty. Kick start your day by having a glass of water. This helps flush toxins out of your body that have been building up all night. This first glass will go down easily and get a few ounces out of the way!

Tip 4

Feeling thirsty is your body's way of telling you that you area already dehydrated. Do not wait until you feel thirsty before taking a drink. Sip on water all day.

Tip 5

If you have a small timer, kitchen timer, or stop watch set it during the day. When it goes off take a drink of water. This will help build your habit of drinking water.

Tip 6

Here is one that most people do not know. If you drink something with caffeine, you need to add a few extra glasses of water into your diet for the day. Caffeinated drinks such as coffee, tea, and soda steal water from your system.

Tip 7

Purchase a water bottle that holds 32 ounces. This will hold half the water you need for the day and you can easily see how you are progressing. Try to find a bottle with the ounces marked on the side. Set a goal for yourself that you will drink a certain number of ounces before putting the water down.

Tip 8

If the water coming from your tap isn't tasty, then you will need to do something different. Purchase a water purification system or purchase bottled water. If water has a more pleasant taste, it may be easier to drink.

Tip 9

Let's face it, no purification system in the world is going to change the fact that what you are drinking is water. If you are having trouble with the taste even after it is purified, try adding lemon to the water. This will give the water a citric taste.

Tip 10

When you feel hungry, grab the glass of water. Water helps you control hunger and you will eat less if you have just taken in a few ounces.

Once you begin drinking water it becomes a habit. These ten tips will become a natural part of your life and you will be drinking water without having to think about it.
