Tips to Earn Extra Money for a Vacation

Stacy Hensley
Times are hard for a lot of people right now. People have lost their jobs, or had their hours cut back due to the recession. So how do you overcome all of these obstacles and still come up with the money to have a vacation this year? Here are a few tips to get you started.

Be Reasonable
Chances are, you aren't going to be able to come up with enough money to spend a week or two at the beach. Three or four days away can be a great mini vacation. This will give you a few days to relax and have some fun.

Yard Sale
Yard sales are a great way to make some quick cash for a vacation. Clean out those closets, the garage, and the basement. Get rid of any stuff that you don't use anymore. Have the rest of the family go through all their stuff and get all the items together that they no longer use. You can make some extra money, and clean out your house at the same time.

Lawn Care
Spend a few weekends mowing yards for people that need it. A lot of people don't have the time to keep their lawns maintained. There are elderly people who just aren't able to do this kind of work. People that can afford it are willing to pay a good amount to get someone to do it for them.

You can hand out flyers, or post them in your local grocery stores, or community bulletin boards. Place a small ad in your local newspaper. Spread the word to all your friends and family, they may know someone that needs your services. Ask around your neighborhood. You may be able to find some work close to home.

Check the Classifieds
You can often find people who need things done and are willing to pay nicely for it. Dog walking, taking off trash, landscaping, or helping someone move are just a few of the odd jobs that you might be able to find that can help you make some extra cash for your vacation.

Clip Coupons
Clipping coupons for household items that you use on a regular basis can save you quite a bit of money over a couple of months. Add the money you save into your vacation fund.

These are just a few ideas that you can use to help you make enough money to take a vacation. Be creative and I'm sure you can add to this list.
