Tips for Earning Money in College

Some Tips for Making a Few Extra Bucks

Working and attending college can be tough, but most college students have to do something to earn a few bucks, even if their parents are helping out. Here are some ideas to make extra money and still have time to study.

One of the best ways to make a few dollars is right here at Associated Content. Content producers are only limited by their ability to turn out interesting and informative articles and their ability to promote their writing so that they receive more page views. College students have to do a lot of writing anyway, so AC is a great way to hone those research and writing skills. AC works, and the payoff is immediate.

Temp agencies are also a good way to earn a few dollars without making a long-term commitment. There are many companies who provide work on a day-by-day basis. This may be an option if you have a regular job but your hours get cut or if you want to earn some extra cash on your day off.

Professional sports venues also may be a source of extra income, and many times you can watch a game while you work. Here in Tampa Bay, we have the Buccaneers (football), who play at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa; the Lightning (ice hockey), who play at the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa; and the Devil Rays (baseball), who play at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg. There are also various minor league teams in the area as well. All of these venues and organizations require a large staff to clean, serve food, assist in seating, and provide information to fans. Many of these positions are staffed on a temporary, as-needed basis. Some temporary positions are staffed by outside companies, but a call to the employment office can provide further information about how to get started.

Your college can also help with part-time or full-time work around campus. Students who qualify for financial aid may be eligible for work-study positions on campus, but even those who are not eligible can usually find work around campus. The school bookstore, cafeteria and other food establishments, administration, and many other departments are always looking for student help to keep things running smoothly. Often you can study during down times or take extra time off work when you need to study or have a paper due.

So now you have a few ideas to get yourself started earning a few extra dollars for college expenses. You (and your parents) will be glad you did!

Great ideas. I worked 3 jobs when I was in college at one point, I ran myself completely ragged, and ended up getting really sick. I learned that if I worked really hard during the summers and saved most of the money instead of spending it then I could get through at least a semester only working a few hours a week. But there are so many great ways to earn money now, especially with the internet.
