Choose places with fresh ingredients.
We have all seen the success stories of people losing weight and becoming healthier eating at a certain fresh restaurant. It's true. Patronizing a place that makes everything as you order using unprocessed ingredients is a great way to keep on the right nutritional track. It's one of the best tips for eating healthy on the go, while still being able to enjoy a meal that will fill you up.
Check out healthier main options at fast food joints.
Many establishments are offering lower calorie, lower fat choices on their menus. So if you must go to the greasy burger joint, choose meals such as wraps in lieu of burgers.
Do not let the sides get the best of you.
A small bag of fries can ruin your whole day. So pick salads instead of one of the deep fried choices.
Try something new.
If you are just not the greens type, simply eating different foods everyday is also believed to keep your metabolism going. Try out a spicy chicken sandwich with pepper jack cheese one day and a more mellow alternative the next. Just keep a few energy bars in the car in case you really don't like something and have no time to get an alternative. Which follows in line with another one of the great tips for eating healthy on the go.
Snack all day long.
Seems contradictory doesn't it? Frequent fueling up will always be one of the best ways to eat good as well as fast. Having items such as nuts, oatmeal bars and other tasty treats on hand will keep you from getting too hungry; which we all know leads to uncontrolled overeating.
Do not eat in the car.
If at all possible, try to take the time to sit down and enjoy your meal. Not only is it not safe to eat behind the wheel, it causes a person to eat as fast as he can as well. One of the best tips for eating healthy on the go, or even at home for that matter, is to sitting somewhere and consume your food slowly. Even if you gave into temptation and chose that greasy burger, this will allow your stomach to have time to notify your brain that it is full. You may even be surprised that your bag of fries goes untouched.
Drink water.
Empty calories can sneak up on you. Instead of the traditional soda pop or malt, wash down your food with a nice cold ice water. If you can't give up your favorite beverages that easy, at least opt for a small one and then drink water. The same tips for eating healthy on the go applies to hot beverages as well. In lieu of the large sugar packed mocha's; go for a small coffee with a hint of cream and sugar.
Try new beverages.
Another great idea is to start trying out all of the different choices in tea that there are out there. It is way beyond the stuff your Grandma stored in the sun on her front porch. The natural medicinal qualities of the little white packets are astounding and are small enough to carry your favorites around with you. Anyplace can get you some hot water if you ask for it.
The best tips for eating healthy on the go are not about avoiding your favorite fast food places, they're all about finding some new favorites on their menus.

Post a CommentExcellent tips. I drink a ton of water.
Good article. You don't realize how much water you need on the road. I went on vacation with some friends and my aunt years ago. We drove from Louisiana to New York. She packed fruit, water and stool softeners.
Good advice, Angela! I know first-hand the benefits of drinking plenty of water, both for energy and for weight loss/appetite management. Water is just a great thing to drink all day long!
