The dangers involved in traveling alone at night may include poor sight where it can be very dark to see the road clearly. You must be extra careful to check on the predators or animals that may be on the roadway. You have to pay extra attention to the surroundings when getting in and out of the vehicle especially in areas that are not well-lit.
It is usually advised to travel during the day. But in case you don't a choice, try to find a companion for the night travel. One of the items you must have during the night travel include a fully charged torch, a cell phone, and a hand written emergency number in case you need to use the payphone or borrow a phone due to discharge of your phones. The cell phone may fail to work, get stolen, or lost forcing you to consider using the payphone. You also need to have some loose change for paying telephone charges and other small bills.
The car is like any other machine and they can fail any time. Things will occasionally go wrong. You have to ensure that you are stopping at a safe and well-lit place even when you are being pulled-over by the police. When you experienced emergency such as tire bursts, drive to a safe location such as a petrol station. Before traveling, you must ensure that your car was inspected before traveling. All the tires have to be checked and if they are worn out, they should be replaced. The tires should also have the right amount of pressure. The gas tank has to be filled up since it is always wise to start off with a full tank in case you may not be able to find a gas station especially when in a new area. If moving out early in the morning and it is still dark, you may be required to ensure full tank the day before so that you do not need to stop for gas that early morning when it is still dark.
Some food will come in handy so that you can avoid stopping too many times along the way. It can be very tricky to find a good joint for food especially when traveling in new areas. You will also keep your mind on driving safely if you are not hungry or the gas is full instead of looking for restaurant or gas stations. It is usually safer for you to remain in the car for as long as possible until you reach your destination.
