Tips for Experimental Science Fair Project Presentations

One of the elements of a science fair project is a presentation. This presentation is intended to do several things. First of all it is intended to inform the judges quickly about what your project is about and what you did during the completion of your project. The next thing that it is intended to do is to demonstrate your knowledge of your topic. Finally, it is intended to provide the science fair judges with the opportunity to ask you questions about your project. This is a nerve racking portion of your science fair experience, but you can get through it with these tips.

Tip #1 - Demonstrate Your Experiment

A great way to show the science fair judges what you did during your experiment is to walk them through a sample trial. You will want to set up your experiment and run the judges through the steps to show them what you did. If your experiment takes a long time to complete you can set up the experiment in various stages to show how the experiment progresses.

Tip #2 - Utilize View Demonstration Objects

It is much easier for science fair judges to understand your project if you use a variety of graphics or visual demonstration objects. You can use photographs, drawing, graphs and models during your presentation. These objects need to be quality items that are in color when ever possible.

Tip #3 - Anticipate Questions

Since your judges are going to ask you questions about your science fair project it is important to figure out what the most likely questions are going to be for your project. Usually the judges will ask you how much time you spent on your project, how realistic your test conditions were, what you learned and what research is still needed. In addition to common questions asked every entrant, you will also want to think about the questions that judges are likely to ask about your project in particular.

Tip #4 - Dress to Impress

Every aspect of your presentation is going to be evaluated, including your appearance. To get the best scores possible you will want to dress neatly and professionally, you will want to have your hair fixed and you will want to have an overall look that is orderly. You will also want to make sure your body language is strong and confident. This will help to convince the judges that you know what you are talking about.
