Tips for Fighting Excessive Perspiration

Sweating is a necessary thing for your body, as it is your body's built-in cooling system. But excessive perspiration is not a necessary thing to suffer from. So, how much is excessive perspiration? Let's just say if you need to change your outfit after doing a leisure activity such as eating lunch or walking to your car in the parking lot, you may suffer from excessive perspiration.

Most of your body's sweat glands are found on the soles of your feet, palms of your hands, and in your armpits. Nerve endings that are influenced by change in temperature, hormones and mood causes these sweat glands to become active and that causes perspiration. The glands produce sweat, which then evaporates and your skin is cooled. The problem arises when the glands produce too much sweat and produces sweat with the slightest change in temperature, mood or hormones. This may cause a person to suffer from excessive perspiration.

So, what exactly triggers excessive perspiration in some people? It may be a genetic problem. If you have a parent that suffers from excessive perspiration, then it may be inherited from them. Anxiety can also cause excessive perspiration in some people. Feeling stressed out and anxious about something can trigger the nerve endings that make you perspire. Many females may suffer from excessive perspiration during their period. Elevated female hormones may cause the sweat glands to produce an overabundance of sweat. Lastly, spicy foods can trigger excessive perspiration. Chili peppers and hot spices release chemicals that increase your blood flow and makes your body heat up. This in return makes your body produce sweat.

Depending on how extreme your excessive perspiration is, there are certain things that you can do to help fight the excessive perspiration.

Relax and breathe slowly when you are anxious or stressed out. This can help prevent your body from triggering your sweat glands to produce sweat.

Use a talc-free body powder to soak up any wetness from your body. Try a body powder that does not have a strong odor but will leave you smelling fresh. You can place the body powder in any places that you suffer from excessive perspiration such as your feet, armpits, between your legs and your neck.

Use a maximum strength antiperspirant. There are several new antiperspirants on the market now that have clinical protection that used to be only available from a doctor. For the best results, you should actually apply the product at night before bedtime and then again in the morning to the maximum capacity from the antiperspirant. One recommended product for excessive perspiration is Dove Clinical Protection Antiperspirant and Deodorant.

If you are having serious problems with your excessive perspiration, then you will want to visit your doctor about the condition. Your doctor can prescribe Drysol or Xerac AC which are antiperspirants that have a higher percentage of sweat inhibitors than any product available in the store. Or you can ask your doctor about Botox injections. The Botox injections will help relax the sweat glands for up to a 6 month period of time. This helps to greatly lessen the amount of sweat that part of the body generates. You don't have to suffer from excessive perspiration if you have tried to fight the problem yourself. Make sure to see your doctor and check out what they recommend for the problem.
