The first most important thing I believe everyone needs is a well written, one page resume that specifically describes all of your talents. Make sure you list every detail you can think of that describes your responsibility at your past jobs. Dates are important to list so your future employer can determine how long you usually are at each job and to find out whether you will be with them for a long time. Employers like to know that you can and will be a dedicated employee. Information that I think can be left out of your resume are the reasons why you are no longer with your former employer. I usually save that for the interview, if they even decide to ask. Once all of that is established, you are ready to do some job hunting.
There are several ways for you to find a good job; which can be through the newspaper classifieds, temp agencies (most of the time they turn into permanent jobs), employment agencies, job fairs, trade publications or the most widely used is the Internet. Depending on the profession you are in or special skill you may have determines what resource will help you best in finding that perfect job.
When sending your resume by fax, mail or email, make sure you have an unsurpassed, professional cover letter. Having an appealing, well written cover letter along with your resume determines whether or not your resume gets looked at, so make it good.
Last, but definitely not least, once you have obtained some interviews for the jobs you want, dress professionally, smile, and be super knowledgeable in the position you are seeking. Your appearance is very important in making a first impression, but you also have to know exactly what the position requires and show your future employer that you are the only one they have been looking for.
Good luck job seekers, I know you can do it. Remember, you can do anything you set your mind to.
