1. The Newspaper: this is no surprise sometimes the newspaper is pretty good for finding jobs. If you are looking for a local job you may recognize many of the employers and already have an idea what it would be like to work for them, You may even know someone that works for one of the local businesses that would give you a reference. Many of the places I have been employed at hired me through recommendation. This makes it much easier. At least I always though so. Also look in the free newspapers for local jobs, some employers find it more economical to advertise in the free papers I have found lots of good jobs in these types of publications.
2. Websites: Of course you can find thousands of jobs on all types of websites just visit google and type in the job you are looking for. Some times you can narrow down the search by including the job you are looking for and the area. I have come up with quite a few jobs this way also.
3. Advertise yourself: yes, create a resume and post it online. There are also many service's that will help you with the process, free and paid service's that will store your resume on the web. I create mine in a text file and send it to interested parties. You can also create your own little web-page with picture etc. I have found that when I do advertise myself on free classified sites that I do get inquires and I have landed a few positions with out alot of expense or work on my part.
4. Bulletin boards around the town are great sources for finding a job locally. Many of the supermarkets have a place that employers can post jobs.
5. Radio stations. Many of the towns in the USA have morning radio stations that sell items and are generally used for community service. If you are looking for a job you can sometimes call the radio station and they will announce your ad so to speak. All over the USA there are radio stations that will do, this mostly public broadcasting stations. You will be surprised at how many people listen to these stations. I have found several jobs just by listening.
