Tips on Finding a Reputable Car Mechanic
Having a Reputable Car Mechanic Can Take the Stress Out of a Trip to the Garage
If we haven't personally experience a disastrous trip to the car repair shop, we have all heard horror stories from friends and family about the mechanic that took them to the cleaners or did not provide the services that they were hired to perform. After listening to their horror stories and car repair mishaps, be certain to ask if they have a mechanic that they can recommend. I am certain that they will have at least one mechanic that they have something good to say about.
By asking family and friends who they use for their mechanic work, you will be well on your way to finding a reputable car mechanic or car care center. Being prepared is the key to keeping an automobile breakdown as simple and stress free as possible.
If an individual mechanic is not what you are in the market for, their are several automobile repair chains that are reputable and as an added bonus, the national car repair chains typically offer a better guarantee than a local independent mechanic. Car dealerships, and chain repair shops may not be the best for every job but depending upon the service needed could be a safe bet.
If your car is under warranty, you may not have much of a choice when it comes to where you have your car serviced. Although you don't have to have your car serviced at the dealership where it was purchased, you will have to stick with a dealership for warranty repair work. The dealership will have specially trained staff to service the make and model of your vehicle. Their mechanics are usually highly trained and offer quality service. If the work is covered under warranty, all needed repairs should be completed at no cost to you depending upon the terms of your warranty.
If all that your car needs is a quick oil change or a simple service visit, then the car dealership is not the best place to visit. These service can be provided quickly and professionally through a retail center that offers a car service center. This will save you time and money as these car service shops are frequently located close to normal activity centers such as the mall or down town business centers. One of the most convenient locations is the Wal-Mart service center. You can get your oil changed while you shop or pick up a prescription.
By taking the time to ask friends and family who they use for car repairs, you can be way ahead of the game when it comes time for a service call. Having an action plan will get you back on the road in no time. Once you find a good mechanic, be sure to pass that information on to others!
