Some parents opt to let their child cry themselves to sleep. This process can take several nights and can cause sleeping and trust problems for the child when they are older. Some babies will end up throwing up. This is too hard on babies that are really young. This might work better and be more positive for children when they are older.
Make sure your baby is on a good feeding schedule. This is important because he will help you to determine if your child is crying because she is hungry. You will be able to rule out hunger as a factor if he is on a feeding schedule.
If your baby starts to cry after she is put into to bed try using a pacifier. This will help her with her suckling need and possible put her to sleep. Try and console her without taking her out of the crib. She will know that you are always around if she needs you, but that you will not be picking her up.
A night light especially one that is mounted on the crib and provides a projection of characters like teddy bears or something like that on the ceiling will help sooth your tiny one to sleep. It might just be too dark for the little one in their room or yours.
Your baby might end up going through a growth spurt and actually be hungry. You will have to figure out how your little one operates. The only way to do this is by trying new things. The first few nights will be hard, but eventually it will pay off and your sanity and life will return to normal.
Most babies can get into a sleep schedule around 2 to 3 months. Some of them will even start to sleep through most of the night. Even if they skip the 2 am feeding this will help you to get some much needed sleep of your own. It is important that your baby trusts you and they feel secure. This will help them to develop a better sleep pattern.
