Tips on How to Make Good JoeJoe's

They Are Great with Burgers

Potatoes are an amazingly good food for you that are reasonably priced. Even when I am purchasing them organically I can still get a five pound bag of Organic Yukon Gold Potatoes from Alden Farms for only a little over a dollar a pound, quite worth every penny, or I can get a cheaper bag of Genesis Organic Farms Russet Potatoes or Farm Fresh Direct Organic Russet Potatoes for even less per pound. One thing that I make a lot of is veggie burgers and french fries are something that goes great with veggie burgers. I have to admit though, I have never been successful with making my own french fries and have very little desire to because I know that they are not that good for you. Instead I have making JoeJoe's and I have learned a thing or two when it comes to making good JoeJoe's.

When you bake JoeJoe's bake them on a cookie sheet and not in glass bakeware. Depending on the size of JoeJoe's that you are making will affect how long you cook them but like potatoes it is a good idea to bake them at a high temperature, I find that 400 degrees works well for me. Through a lot of trial and error I discovered that I liked the taste of JoeJoe's that were cooked in extra virgin olive oil, of course you can use what ever oil that you have on hand but remember that oils will make a difference.

Another thing that I discovered through trial and error was that it is important to get all sides of the JoeJoe's oiled before you start baking. As your oven is preheating cover your baking sheet with oil and season it with some salt and pepper. Then take your slices of potatoes and lay them down in the oil on each of their sides so each side will have oil on it before you flip them midway through. Once you have all of your JoeJoe's on the sheet you can add extra seasoning if you feel that they need it. The amount of pepper and salt that your JoeJoe's need will be up to you and your preferences. As mentioned above flip your JoeJoe's halfway through the time that you are baking them. I find that thirty to forty minutes in enough.

Once your JoeJoe's are at their desired tenderness pull them out and transfer them to a glass bakeware that has a lid. This way you will be able to keep them warm with out drying them out. It is a good idea to try and time the time that they will be done around the time that you will be eating them. Having them warm can certainly taste better than if they have cooled off. If you make extras you can store them in your fridge in the same bakeware with a lid and then when you want to reheat them you can pop them in the oven in the same bakeware, except you don't have to reheat them on such as high temperature as when you cooked them. JoeJoe's are a wonderful alternative to french fries and a lot more healthy for you. The more you cook them the better you will be at preparing them.
