Most sports competitors use food as a means of fueling themselves in an effort to gain the optimal effectiveness in their competitions. However, food should not just be a need to get food in or a source of simple energy. Food can be more satisfying and better than that, you don't have to be a Sports Chef to create healthy gourmet foods. With a few handy tips, you'll be able to enjoy great healthy foods that will also provide energy for your next competition.

1. Balance your meals with a good selection of proteins, carbs, and fats. But don't get too hung up on the numbers or calculating - the idea is to enjoy good food that provides the most effect energy for competition and enjoying your life.

2. Try new foods or new ways of cooking. By changing foods and cooking habits, you will ensure a healthy balance of nutrients. With new and different foods, you will be able to get a variety of different vitamins and minerals.

3. Spice up your foods with spices and herbs. Spices and herbs are a low caloric way to increase the tastes of your food. Herbs also have antioxidants, cholesterol lowing properties, and in some cases anti-inflammatory properties

4. Go with Quality ingredients. Quality foods that are natural foods, you help your body perform well. Quality whole foods are your building blocks to great meals. With top quality, ingredients you will feel are more satisfied on less food.

5. Slow down. By slowing down and enjoying your food, your digestion is better and you are less likely to overeat.

6. Add Wine with dinner. With a glass of wine, you are adding extra antioxidants to your meals. However, remember the moderation rule. Where on glass gives you benefits, more than one increases your risks.
