Tips For Preparing Foods On The Grill:
1. Corn is a great choice of food to prepare on the grill. Grilling the corn is a much easier and healthier way of preparing a side that will be served with the meat that you grilled for the meal. For best results peel the shucks back on all the ears of corn and don't remove these shucks. The peeled shucks will expose the ear of corns silks and all of the silk should be removed from the ears of corn and the shucks should be pulled back up in place to cover the corn once these silks are removed. The corn will then need to go into a pot of water to soak for about 15 minutes and the water should be drained from the ears of corn once the corn has soaked for the time it's supposed to soak. The next step after draining the water from the ears of corn is to place the corn on the grill that is heated already on a high heat and the corn should be left on the grill for about 20 minutes for each ear of corn. It's also a good idea to turn the ears of corn throughout the 20 minutes of grilling and to blacken the entire outer husk of each ear of corn before removing the corn from the grill.
2. Onions are another type of food that is a great choice in preparing on the grill. Peel away the onions papery outside layers and slice away the center of the onion. Then slice the onion to an angle of which will provide a flat surface on each slice of the onion at it's bottom which will allow it to sit in an upright position. Using the tip of your knife or a mellon baller will be handy in hollowing the center out of the onion. The center of the onion will then hold butter that you fill in the onions center with a preferred brand of your choice in any type liquid butter. The next ingredient to add in the center of the onion is a bouillon cube or salt and pepper to taste. Wrap the sliced onion in aluminum foil and place over the low and indirect heat on the grill for about 45 minutes or until tender.
3. Asparagus is also an excellent food that is great tasting when prepared on the grill. Wash and snap off the tough ends on the asparagus to prepare the asparagus for grilling. Toss the asparagus tender ends into a mixture of olive oil and light salt and soak the asparagus in this mixture for about 5 minutes. The asparagus will be ready to grill once it is soaked and it can be layed directly on the grill's surface when ready to be grilled. A veggie basket will be handy to help keep your asparagus spears from dropping into the fire. The asparagus will be ready to eat in a short 5 minutes time so be careful not to over cook each asparagus spear.
4. Squash is also a great food to grill and it's quiet simple to prepare on the grill. The squash should always be washed very thoroughly and once it's washed it should be split lengthwise into 1/2 inch sized planks in the thickness of each sliced plank. Brush each cut plank of squash with olive oil and light salt mixture that is brushed on both sides of the planks of squash. Put on the grill over a medium heat for about five minutes each or until each plank of squash is tender and lightly browned on both sides.
5. Peaches are also a great food that is excellent when prepared on a grill. In peaches it's important that you choose a freestone variety of peach to prepare on the grill. Wash each peach and wipe away the fuzz on the peaches outer layer during the wash. Halve the peach and remove and discard the pit in each peaches center. Sprinkle the peaches cut sides with a light sprinkle of sugar or sweetner substitute. Place cut side of peach on the grill face down with the cut side down on the grills surface over a medium to high heat setting on the grill. Keep the peach down in the position of cut side down until the peach shows grill marks and becomes a bit slighter in its softness. Once peach is softer turn the peach over to expose the cut side up and place cream cheese in the peaches center in a small cube type amount. Grill until the cream cheese in the peaches center starts to soften and melt in each of the peaches centers. Remove the peach and sprinkle a light sugar over the entire peach before serving.
