Tips on How to Help Conserve Our Planet's Energy

Kendall S.
Whether you like it or not, global warming is a real threat to our planet. Even though it may not seem this way in some areas of the planet, global warming is always happening, and us humans are a big part of this cause.

Take a minute right now, while you are reading this, and think about how every morning you wake up. What appliances do you use? What are you using that consumes energy? Out of all of the things that you thought of, you probably missed a bunch. When us humans use any electronics, we are shortening the Earths supply of energy by something. Even if it is barely anything, it is something. There are many things that you can do to help in the process of cutting down on the amount of energy that you use everyday. If we all followed these next couple of guidelines for the next week, we may have a whole extra months worth of energy. If we as citizens of the United States continue to not make some guidelines on conserving energy for ourselves, we may have a set of laws placed in front of us that we are ordered to follow by the government. Some of you may think this is stupid, but really think about what you do that cuts down the Earths energy supply.

One thing that you can do to help conserve our planets energy is to tell yourself and the people around you to take a look into hybrid cars. They use half as much gas, and pollute our planets air half as much. If hybrid cars aren't for you, try things like turning off lights, turning off your television, opening up your window on a cool summer night, and turning off your fans and air conditioning. In the morning, turn off the water while you brush your teeth and wash your face. Turn off the water while you are shaving your legs. On your way to dropping off the kids at school, open up the windows and let them feel the fresh air and wind in their face. Before you leave your office to go the the grocery store, put your computer on stand-by or turn it off. When you go to the grocery store, say to to both paper AND plastic bags. Use some old bags from last weeks trip to the mall. Don't be afraid to ask the bagger to put your food that you bought in different bags, because if they're not doing the same, they are hurting their own planet, while you are trying to do something good. One more thing that I would suggest is to use Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs. They conserve electricity!

I hope that these tips helped to open your eyes about different things that you can do to help your planet out each and every day. Share these tips with friends and family. Sit your kids down, and let them know how they can help, and how important it is to conserve our Earths electricity. Maybe walk them to school, use less gas, and get some exercise for yourself!
