Tips to Help You Find a Job

When you are unemployed it can be difficult to maintain a positive attitude and keep your confidence. If you are looking for a job, it is easy to become discouraged due to the simple fact that it costs money to get around town to looking for gainful employment, and for some people the obstacles you must overcome on the job market are similar to nightmares.

To keep your employment search a success, you must remember the importance of maintaining persistence and patience. Unfortunately getting hired on the spot is a thing of the past generally. You must have a resume that is not only professional, but presentable to accompany a neatly filled in application. This is not enough to get your foot in the door however. I have heard that using a non traditional color for your resume such as pink or green is a good idea, as it will draw attention to its self. Additionally you should plan to follow up on each application and resume to show that you are very interested in the position.

If you can't really afford to drive all over town several times, I always recommend utilizing the internet to submit your resume and applications. You can apply at more places and keep your transportation expenses down via the internet.

Additionally, you must be realistic about your situation, as the interview could be the least of your concerns. You most likely will face background checks, drug tests and credit checks. As odd as it may sound, unpaid debts, evictions and legal issues will prevent you from getting many jobs. If you do have issues with your credit or background, be honest about it and show the potential employer you have nothing to hide. It might help you get your foot in the door. The drug testing should not be a problem, considering that you are unemployed and broke, but to each their own and I can not offer any advice on overcoming that obstacle.

Utilize newspaper classified ads, as well as online sources such as www.careerbuilder.com, or www.craigslist.com. Www.monster.com is also a good tool for the job search. You should also consider utilizing a temp service such as Iforce or Manpower, as occasionally great jobs come through temp services.

Good luck with your job search ,keep a great attitude about it. You might consider utilizing the internet to earn money while searching for a job. Online earning opportunities that do pay include www.associatedcontent.com, www.sharedreviews.com, Amazon mechanical turk, and reviewstream.com all pay in a timely fashion. It can't hurt to supplement your income while searching for a job.
