Tips to Help Men at the Grocery Store

Timothy Scheiman
More and more men do the grocery shopping these days than in the past. This has a lot to do with busy families and the wife working outside the home. Some men are becoming proficient at it while others are still bumbling and stumbling around in the grocery store. I thought I would throw together some tips for man who has the job of doing the weekly shopping.

Never send a man to the store without a list

Grocery lists help in organizing. Men will buy things on the list. If he doesn't have a list he will buy more items and most likely the wrong things. If he is hungry when he goes to the store he will spend way over budget. A list helps him to stay on budget.

For hard to find items tell him where they are

If you have a specific item that you know may be hard to find make sure you inform him where it is located. Men don't like to ask for help in finding something. They do the same thing when lost trying to find a location in the car. They don't like to admit they are lost. The same holds true in the store. They will most likely not buy an item than try to ask where it is. They will go home without the item rather than ask for help. They know they cannot buy the wrong thing cause you the wife will yell at them.

When making a list put items in department order

This will help the man immensely if when you make the list you try to keep items that are related together. In other words list all the meat, produce, dairy, and etc. together. This will help him find the items easier. If he can't find it most likely he won't buy it.

Feed him first

I mentioned this briefly before but if you want him to stay on budget feed him first. If he goes to the store hungry he may spend way more than your budget can stand. Men think with their stomachs so take away the temptation. If he goes to the store hungry you may end up with a freezer full of pizza or something to that affect.

Don't send him to the store at certain times

If you send him to the store after work, when he is stressed, or before a ball game he will hurry through it and may miss some important items. He needs time to go to the store and he doesn't perform well when he would be stressed or rushed. Its not that he doesn't want to go to the store for you but there are times he shouldn't go.

Go to the store with him at times

If you go with him to the store at times he will be more likely to want to go alone. The more confident he gets at the store the more he will feel like he can and want to do it for you.

These are simple tips to help your man shop efficiently at the grocery store.
