With the dawn of a New Year falling upon us, we are getting ready to make our New Year's resolutions. It seems two of the most popular resolutions are to loose weight and to pay off our debt. Here are some tips that will help you stick to your goals and hopefully make your new years prosperous and joyful because you stuck to you resolutions.

Tips to stick to a weight loss resolutions:

1.
Be reasonable. You cannot set out to loose 5 pounds a week or 20 pounds a month and actually stick to it. Do not set number goals for yourself. It is easy to get disappointment and give up when a certain number is not met.
2.
Make you resolution be about eating better and exercising instead of loosing weight. If you are eating better and exercising, you may not necessarily loose weight. Some people gain muscle instead of shedding pounds. You may actually be loosing pants sizes but not shed a single pound.
3.
Do not try to change everything all at once. If you do not exercise at all right now, gradually add exercise to your routine and work yourself up to your desired goal. If you goal is to work out 30 minutes everyday and you do not exercise at all right now, you can burn yourself out by trying to do it all at once or you could even cause harm to your body.

Tips to stick to paying off your debt:

1.
Sit down and make a reasonable budget. Make sure you have accurate numbers for your income and debt.
2.
Decide which debt to tackle first. This can be done in one of two ways. You can start with the highest interest rate debt first, which economically does make more sense or you can start with the debt which has the smallest balance. This helps people who need to see results to feel like that they are actually getting somewhere. It also helps reduce the actual number of monthly debts that you have and in the end saves you time, checks, and stamps.
3.
Decide what credit cards stay and which ones go. You do not need 15 credit cards. I would recommend keeping one universal card such as a MasterCard or visa and cutting up the rest. If you do not have them, you cannot use them. Department store credit cards have higher interest rates than most others do. However, they do send out valuable coupons to card holders. You can do one of two things. You can cut up the cards and forget about those coupons or you can keep the card. If you keep the card, you must be able to pay cash for your purchases. The coupons usually state that you must use your store credit card but they do not tell you that you cannot immediately pay the bill off after making the purchase.
4.
Pay yourself first. Start a savings account if you do not already have one. This may seem silly when you have debt not to pay it off first but by having a savings account it will help you pay for the unexpected things that pop up so you do not have to use those credit cards.

These are just some simple tips to help you get started and make you want to stick to your New Years resolutions.
