If you made the decision to sell your home and can't move out until it's sold, follow these tips for living in a staged house. Cleanliness, storing unnecessary items, and being ready for potential buyers are all priorities for living in a staged home. Some homes look better lived in and are able to portray a cozy environment, while others can make potential purchasers turn away, because they can't envision anything other than clutter.

Make a list of everything on the inside that needs to be cleaned. The inside should be deep cleaned, just like an open house. The outside of your home needs to be pressure washed and the yard, driveway and landscaping should all be ready for new owners. Stay organized, keep working on your lists and maintaining an organized atmosphere. Don't have stacks of stuff or moving boxes anywhere. Keep everything looking like the typical model home, which means you should pick up each room, when you are done using it for the day.

Get a storage unit. Place extra furniture, moving boxes and extra clothes in your storage unit. There shouldn't be clutter in any room. A bed room should have a bed, night stand and dresser with minimal clothing in the closets. Keep everything out from under your furnishings and store anything away neatly in drawers, so shelving and closet space is easily noticed.

Keep your house ready for potential buyers. If a buyer can't follow your schedule for viewing the home, you need to be ready at all times to show your home. Keep it clean, so you don't have to rush home and tidy up rooms. Make sure your home smells good, at all times, smell is one of the top turn offs to a buyer. Maintain little items, that are a big deal to buyers, like light bulbs and steam cleaning stains in the carpets.

Staging a home is simple, if you maintain each room, while you live in it. Keep it clean, store unnecessary items and always be ready for an unexpected buyer to show up. This tips will help your home look the part for a purchasable home, and will hopefully get you what you are asking for in price. Always view your home as the general population would if considering a purchase, and you will be able to see a house for sell that isn't a part of your personality, but fits the majority.
