When you begin looking at a screened-in porch, you need to think of how your house is so that the design of our porch will not look out of place. If you have a square house, you probably would not want to have a circular porch. You would want your porch to be rectangular or square in shape. The main thing to do is look at the angles of your house and work with those angles. Do not try to change the angles for the porch. Make the porch work for your house.
There are many different things that you could use to create the perfect screened-in porch to complement your house. You could use tile, vinyl, or wood flooring. The type of floor you choose does not have to completely tie into your house. Remember that your screened-in porch is like an additional room to your house. It can have its own unique design and set up.
The walls are usually made out of wood. The type of wood is up to you. It can either be oak, cedar, black cherry, anything you choose. Be sure that the wood you choose is a good quality and can withstand the heat and cold weather.
The last thing that you should look at is the types of screening you are going to be using to complete your screened-in porch. Now, you can screen in most of the porch, all of the porch, or the top of the porch. There are not as many different types of screens as the other items you choose, but the colors can be different. Be sure you know the amount of screen you will need for your design.
Don't forget about the designing within your screened-in porch. You may want a unique floor rug or a few small rugs. What about the types of plants that you put on the porch? Look for the types of plants that like to have a lot of room to breathe, such as the fichus or fern. Look at the different types of lighting you could have hung or placed on your porch. You can do a lot of fun and unique things with a screened-in porch.
When it comes to constructing your own screened-in porch, be sure you know how often you are going to want to be in your screened-in porch. There are ways that can allow you to go out for one, two, or three seasons. If you plan to spend time out on your porch in the fall, be sure you use the three season plan and not a two season plan. Ensure you know all the basics before you begin. Remember that once you begin you can't stop. While the task may be hard, the end is a reward in itself.
