Tips for Hosting a Scrapbooking Crop

Are you looking forward to hosting a group of your friends in your home for a scrapbooking crop? A bonus to hosting a crop at your house is you don't have to worry about forgetting any of your supplies. But there are many other things you may be worried about. Take the following tips for hosting a scrapbooking crop, and you'll be on your way to a successful night of scrapping.

Tip #1 for Hosting a Scrapbooking Crop: Think Snacks. Consider carefully what snacks to offer at a scrapbooking crop. You don't want anything that will spill easily, or cause sticky fingers. Consider simple, tidy finger foods like veggies and dip, crackers and cheese, and bite-sized cookies and muffins.

Tip #2 for Hosting a Scrapbooking Crop: Prepare Essentials. Be prepared to provide scrapbooking essentials such as scissors, trimmers, and adhesives. Your guests are likely to have forgotten something and a good host will have these items on hand.

Tip #3 for Hosting a Scrapbooking Crop:Make Room. Make sure you have plenty of table space. Scrapbooking takes up a lot of room. Make sure you have plenty of table and counter space for your guests to spread out. Consider setting up a separate table for supplies, so scrappers can keep their current projects, elbow room and the conversation on one table.

Tip #4 for Hosting a Scrapbooking Crop: Set up a table for guests to put unwanted scrapbooking supplies. Other guests can look through and take anything they like or will use.

Tip #5 for Hosting a Scrapbooking Crop: Plan Ahead. Have your own projects prepared in advance. You won't want to be hiding in your scrapbooking room digging through photos while your guests are sitting around the kitchen table scrapbooking. Plan your layouts or projects just like you would if you were going to a scrapbooking crop at a store or at a friend's house - only if you forget something you can just run into the next room!

Tip #6 for Hosting a Scrapbooking Crop: Share Ideas. Pull out all your scrapbooking idea books for guests to look though. You'll be happy to see them off the shelf, and your scrapbooking friends will get some good tips and ideas from them. Put any scrapbooking magazines you have collected in the pile as well.

Tip #7 for Hosting a Scrapbooking Crop: Have Some Fun. If you want to go all out, plan some fun games or contests for your guests to participate in. Make some goodie bags of scrapbooking items to use as prizes, or use something like a package of adhesive, which everyone always can use more of. You can do a door prize drawing by having everyone put their name in a hat. A sketch contest will get your guests scrapping right away and provide some inspiration. Use a sketch from a book or found online and challenge your guests to use it in a layout or project. Make an example ahead of time, if you have the time - you'll get some bonus scrapbooking done! Anyone who participates gets a chance in a random drawing for a prize. You could also do contests such as whoever completes the most layouts, the most cards, the most unique layout, using the most photos on a layout, etc.
