Tips and Ideas for Naming a New Puppy

Birth is always a wonderful thing! New babies are precious and adorable no matter what type they are. Whether it be a new born baby in your arms or a newborn puppy which barely fits in your hands a new baby is a naturally beautiful thing.

Just a new parents choose names for their new babies pet owners should choose names for their new puppies! A baby can not go without a name so why should a pup? People names vary but generally remain the same. Michael, Mathew, Sarah, and Rebecca are examples of people names. Pet names however can be even more creative. There are some common dog names, such as Spot or Fido, but there are many names that are a little more silly or memorable. I named my female black lab Lady, just because she's a girl. Pet names can get fun and funky. Say one of your pups has a black nose with a bunch of pink spots on it. You can call him something cute pertaining to his nose like Speckles. When there are many pups to care for and choose names for it is much easier to tell them apart and also to remember their names when you name them according the their markings.

Names like Star can be used for pups. So can odd names like Paws or Rascal. A few more ideas are Sunshine, Lucky, Pumpkin, or even Honey. Get wild with the name you choose. You are naming an animal after all!

Usually there are ten or so puppies to a litter. That's a whole lot of names to choose. Enlisting in the help of family members is a great way to get those little pups all named quickly, and creatively. Children love choosing names for stuffed animals so why not let them help to come up with names for a family pet? My firstborn once named a striped orange can Tiger. It stuck!
