Here are some tips to improve your home's curb appeal. When a potential buyer comes to view your house, your home's curb appeal may make the difference in whether or not the buyer seriously considers the home. In fact, many buyers may drive by the home to take a look at the house before setting up an appointment to view it. Fortunately, there are some simple steps that you can take to improve your home's curb appeal and get buyers in the door.
Clean
You should clean the exterior of your home before listing it on the market just as you would the interior of the home. Though a new coat of paint can improve the looks of the home, simply washing the outside can dramatically improve its looks. There are numerous products on the market made for cleaning a home's exterior which will help to make the cleaning process easier. Don't forget to clean the gutters and roof as well. You should also remove any dead limbs, leaves or other debris from the yard.
Repair
If there are any problems with your home's exterior, repair them as much as possible. Even simple and inexpensive to fix problems such as sagging gutters, missing shingles and broken light fixtures will significantly detract from the curb appeal of your home. And make certain that the entrance door and storm door work properly. Any problem that presents a safety hazard, such as broken or uneven sidewalks and loose deck boards, should be properly repaired as well.
Landscaping
Though having your home professionally landscaped can be costly, even simple and inexpensive landscaping improvements can enhance your home's curb appeal. If you cannot afford to have a professional landscaping company give your yard a new look, at least make certain that the yard and landscaping is neatly mowed and trimmed and the sidewalks are edged. Adding a few colorful flowers is inexpensive and can greatly improve the looks of your home's yard. Make certain that the yard is free of weeds. Paint or replace a rusted or otherwise unappealing mailbox as well.
De-Clutter
Though you may be living in the home during the sales process, make certain to keep the yard as free of clutter as possible. Lawn equipment, bicycles, trash cans and similar items that can detract from a home's curb appeal should be stored in the back yard or the garage and out of sight from the street and driveway. Remove any unnecessary objects from the porch, especially if it is small, to create a feeling of space.Published by J. Motes
