Tips to Improve Your Online Browsing Speed

Greg Smith
Are you looking for a way, to increase your search engine speed? With so many websites out there and web pages popping up everyday, most people are looking for a solution to increase the speed at which they look up information. Unbeknown to most of the surfing community, there are a few ways around all of the fluff that comes when you are searching for a specific topic.

Here I will go over a few of my tips and tricks for searching for information on the Internet a blazing speeds.

1 - Using Windows Explorer

Most people have no idea about this, but you can use windows explorer to search for specific information online. All you have to do is open windows explorer and type in the phrase that you are looking for. Microsoft will automatically write that phrase to the Internet. Now it's important to remember that windows explorer will look for that exact phrase, not one word. So if you want to simplify or target your search more carefully, then put your word inside quotes. Try something like car.."car". Explorer will assume you typed in a domain name and will run this through a search engine.

2 - Quotes

Using quotes is a very targeted way to find a specific term or phrase. If you do a search for the term auto insurance, the amount of returns you will get back will be astronomical. But if you change that search term to "auto insurance", you will see a fraction of the amount sites returned.

The reason for this is that when you type in a general term like auto insurance, the search engine will look for all terms that contain auto, terms that contain insurance and terms that contain auto insurance. But when you put quotes around your word or phrase, the search engine will look for that phrase specifically. Targeting only those that say auto insurance and putting the most relevant at the top of the list.

3 - Bookmark/Favorites

If you find yourself going back to the same site over and over again, then it would be a good idea to add that site to your favorites bookmark. To do this, just go to either bookmark or favorite (depending on the browser) and add your site to your list. You will have options to create a new folder for categorizing you sites and can rename the site to something you're more familiar with. When you log onto your web browser, just go to bookmarks or favorites and then clink on your link and you'll be taken directly to your site.

Use these tips to help improve your information search online, you'll be glad you did.
