Tennis is one of the most popular sports amongst those who wish to participate in something active. Even if you are just an amateur tennis player there are a number of things that you can do to improve your game.

Practice
Ensuring that you put in some practice is essential to improving your tennis. Often many amateur players enjoy the odd game of tennis but neglect putting in any practice time. Practicing even occasionally can help improve your tennis.

Serve
Mastering the tennis serve is not easy and being able to carry off a decent serve takes a good bit of effort. One way to help improve your serve is a little bit of practice. When you have your regular game instead of arriving at the time get there twenty minutes early and hit some serves. Doing this regularly should show improvement in your serve.

Attitude
One of the most import aspects of playing tennis is your attitude. It is important not to let losing points get to you and remain positive. A positive attitude should give you a better chance at making a come back on the next point.

Make Use of training tools
At any tennis club you will have access to a hitting wall and ball machine. Make sure to spend some time using these tennis-training tools. By repeatedly doing the same strokes your muscle memory improves. These tools should also help you with your ball control.

Exercise outside of tennis
Spending a little time each week exercising will improve your strength and stamina, thus improving your tennis game. Try running one mile each week or spending twenty minutes on an exercise bike. This will improve the strength in your leg muscle making running around a tennis court much easier. Also try and do ten push up each day. This exercise will develop your arms muscle and your stomach muscles. Finally get yourself a jump rope and spend five minutes of your day using it. A few minutes each day of using a jump rope will improve your reflexes.

Get a lesson
Making sure to get at least the occasional lesion can drastically improve your tennis game. An instructor can more easily see where you are making mistakes and work with your to fix them.

Set a goal
Instead of just playing your regular game without any purpose but to have some fun try and add a goal. Decide on a part of your game that you would like to improve and work on that during your game. Doing this regularly will significantly help your tennis game.

Home practice
Not all tennis practice needs to be done on a tennis court. There are a number of things you can work on while at home. For example practice your throw for serving or your backhand swing.

Balance
Ensure that you keep your tennis balanced. This means don't get so obsessed with perfecting your game that all the fun is taken out of it. Work on things a little at a time to make sure you are still having fun while playing.
