Tips for How to Make Improvements to Your Dining Room

Like the living room, the dining room is also most often used as a formal room. Home improvements for this room are similar to those of the living room.

Starting once again with the walls, they, too, can be painted darker and with more dramatic colors. If you prefer, wallpaper with beautifully designed patterns can also be used. One thing that is often done differently from the living room, however, is the application of a two-tone effect. For example, the upper half of the walls is painted a darker color, or wallpaper is applied to them, while the bottom half of the walls is painted either a satin or semi-gloss white.

The two colors are separated with chair railing, as it is referred to, which is simply molding attached to the wall at a wall height of approximately three feet or slightly less. Molding can also be used in the bottom portion of the wall in the area painted white to create decorative patterns. The results can be quite remarkable, and the best part of all is that it costs very little to do.

Primary furnishing in this room should naturally consist of a dining room table and chairs. Dining room sets are almost always more formal than the breakfast room set used for everyday eating. A decorative centerpiece, such as a vase with a plant in it, makes a nice accent piece for the tale. A china cabinet r hutch is also commonly used to complement the formal dining room set in which china and dinnerware can be displayed.

Lighting for dining rooms often consists of formal chandelier centered above the table. Wall sconces, which is lighting mounted to the wall rather than to the ceiling, can also be used to complement the chandelier. Framed art, such as il painting, are another important part of decorating a dining room. Finally, like the living room, use plants that are appropriate size to fill in the voids and bring color and life into the room.

The impact value of this home improvement is strong because the dining room is highly visible and the cost to improve it is low relative to its impact on value. After centering into the home, like the living room, the dining room is one of the very first rooms seen because it is usually located at the front of the house. Finally, many of the dining room improvements can be taken with you after the house is sold, in particular, all of the furniture, wall hanging, and plants.
