Tips for Improving Our Intuition

Lori Piper
We all have it: we all use it. It is great for problem solving, and making life choices. But do we nurture it? Do we try and improve on it? What is this it to which I am referring? Our intuition, of course.

Sometimes we just say things intuitively. Other times we do not. Can our intuition be wrong? Can we lose our intuition?

We can improve our intuition. It never truly goes away or falters completely. However, as all things need assistance to improve, to become better, so does our intuition- our little inner voice. Here are some tips to help improve our intuition.

"Intuition (is) perception via the unconscious"
-Carl Gustav Jung

Ways to improve one's intuition- nuts

Not go nuts, but rather snack on them. Our brain is 60 % fat. (That is where all our fat is, not on our thighs!!!) Eating healthy fats, such as the fat contained in nuts, provides fuel for our intuition. Peanuts, glory be- a reason, a brainy reason, to eat them.

Ways to improve one's intuition- be proud

Holding our head up, not down, allocates energy to flow to our brains. This in turn, revs up our subconscious: the place where all our intuitive thinking goes on. Next time you are facing a deadline, try walking with your head up, shoulders back. Be proud of you, and your spot on intuition will be your reward.

Ways to improve one's intuition- senses

Think that by only seeing something, we will intuitively know whether or not that is the path we wish or should take? Wrong. To reach a heightened awareness, we must engage with all our senses. Close your eyes, and reach out - see what transpires in your mind when we utilize all five senses.

Ways to improve one's intuition- scents

Peppermint is said to be a headache cure, lavender is calming, rosemary can get our personal energy flowing again and spearmint can be an aid in providing mental clarity. We all need that at some time or another. By breathing in spearmint, we are giving our intuitive abilities a boost. If nothing else, the gum has been around for ages-maybe spearmint gum chewers know something we do not.

Ways to improve one's intuition- guts

Ever have a "gut feeling"? That is your intuition talking to you from elsewhere in your physique. Listen to it- do not stuff it down and forget about it. Sometimes our brain is so befuddled with stuff (think George Carlin and his definition of stuff) that the only way our intuition can be heard, is through our stomach. You are not just hungry, you are being intuitive.

Think about it. Are you intuitive? We all are. Focus more on listening to you, because you do know what is best for you.
