The first idea that I have for you would be to go to a local baseball field. Watch a little league baseball game. Before you go you can go to a dollar store and purchase some snacks and drinks for the family. You all can sit together and choose a team to root for. This can be very fun to do. If you can't afford to go to a professional baseball game then this would make a great option for you. Another nice thing about going to a little league game is that you will probably meet people that live in your area. You can make friends this way.
A second family outing idea that I have for you is to go to a local park and have a picnic. You can take a portable barbecue with you. Many parks have nice picnic areas where you can set up your barbecue. While the kids are having a blast playing you can be making the picnic lunch. Oh what a wonderful smell. There is nothing like the smell of a barbecue lunch. When the kids are done playing have them come over and enjoy lunch with you. After you have finished eating you can play some board games together. This is an awesome way to spend quality time together.
A third family outing idea that I have for you is to go to a local lake or pond. If you have some fishing poles you can fish for a little bit. Teach the kids how to fish too. While you are there your family can have a picnic lunch. You can find a shady spot and enjoy your time together. If there is a place to lie out on a blanket then you all can lay in the sun together for a short time and sun bathe. If it is really hot then you can do a water balloon fight. The kids will love this.
The important thing to remember is that if you are creative you won't have to spend much money on family outings. It is possible to accomplish this and still have a great time. If you do things in your local area then you will be really close to home in case if you can't stay too long. You won't have to worry about the outing taking all day. Even if you just get away for a short period once a week with the family it can do wonders for your relationships.
