Listed is all of the need to know "secrets" and tips for interview success. These tips will assist your teen and land their first job.
Dress Right Tips for Interview Success
Interviews will realize you are a teenager, but the hidden tip for interview success is appropriate attire. For a boy, he will need dress clothes. Always remember to wear dark colored socks. The hue difference between pants, shoes, and socks is evident if socks are white.
Dress shoes are a must. Another tip for interview success would be to have your shoes professionally shined. As soon as you walk into the room and you shoes are gleaming, you have crossed the first hurdle. Lastly for boys is a suit. This is not a requirement, but does show a different level of professionalism. Dressing professionally gives the interviewer a sense confidence in your abilities.
Tips for interview success for girls are along the same lines as boys. The first tip is to be professionally dressed. Best case is a pencil skirt with a white blouse. Do not have outlandish color schemes. Maintain basic colors such as blacks, grays, and browns. Another alternative would be full length pants and a blouse. Never wear capris or shorts.
Do not wear clothes which are conforming or too tight. The saying "if you got it, flaunt it" should never be applied in the work environment. Some businesses have policies prohibiting tight clothes. So the correct business professional attire is critical.
Another tip for interview success is the style of blouse you choose. We discussed conservative colors, but the neckline is important. An interview is not the time for the latest fashions and deep necklines. As a tee, you want to showcase your intellect and not you body parts.
Respectful Terms Tips for Interview Success
The way you speak to your friends may is not the way you speak to your prospective employer. Use terms such as yes sir and yes ma'am. Respectful terms laced throughout the interview give you credibility and integrity. Both qualities are needed in business.
Never use "um". If you are looking for the right combination of words try a slight pause. Having a carefully placed pause is an acceptable alternative. The use of "um" tells the employer you are fishing for answers and you are not confident in your abilities.
Lastly, answer every question. There should never be a time when you state the particular question doesn't apply or you don't know. If you don't answer every question, you can guarantee you will not go far in the interview process.
If your goal is to land your first job, follow these tips for interview success. You will be successful and be on your way to a fruitful and rewarding career.

Post a CommentAlso, definitely know more about the job than you would normally. Last thing employer wants to see is a teenager coming in and saying, "I want this job" without really knowing what that job does (besides wages --> they always know THIS).
