This might seem like a pointless tactic, because so many websites have newsletters and people already get enough spam as it is. However, if you have a good site that is very appealing to visitors, they will want to hear any news you have to give and will sign up. In brief, newsletters are great for expanding an already established or very well designed website.
Most businesses should have one page information sheets available to prospects and customers. The information sheet should be helpful tips and facts about your product. This free document is a display of knowledge and generosity, so it is helpful in developing credibility and making sales.
Another powerful method of advertising is through AdWords, Google's advertising program. Google has come a long way with AdWords, and now you can pay for hundreds of clicks and spend very little money. Do not skimp on setting up a Google AdWords campaign; while it may appear simple, much research has to go into the chosen keywords, ad title, copy, and even landing page. Maybe the home page is not the best place for converting visitors. Think carefully and even consider hiring a company to manage your AdWords or related PPC campaign.
A unique way of advertising is through podcasting. Podcasting is relatively new and is basically an RSS feed for audio. You can podcast about different topics, related to your industry, and then send them out in an RSS feed. An easy way to podcast is to interview customer's for fifteen minutes to a half an hour, record the interview, and podcast that. Make sure to stay on a specific topic and not jump around, as this is more appealing to listeners. You can also burn podcasts to CDs or upload the mp3 to file sharing programs so people can get them easier (also, with CDs, you can give them away offline). By producing a large number of blog posts and podcasts, not only do you give customers lots to read and listen to, but you also generate a large number of content for search engines to pick up on. Talk about hitting two birds with one stone.
