Like the rest of your body your feet needs love and attention too, especially during the summer when it's being exposed more often to the sun, heat, dirt, sand and who knows that else. Beauty starts at the very bottom, the most basic thing, and that is foot care. A healthy feet is a beautiful one. I know how popular it is for women to have their cuticles pushed back when getting a manicure and pedicure, but has anyone stopped and wondered if maybe, just maybe that little patch of skin is there for a reason? About a year ago I took a health care for an easy credit and discovered that that patch of skin had a purpose. It's there to prevent bacteria from getting into your skin and underneath your nails. If you're prone to nail fungus and discoloration, that could be the reason. I'm not saying don't do it, but simply to think twice about it. In the end it's a personal choice and I choose to keep my cuticles and let them do their job.
Keeping your feet healthy means also being aware of what you put your feet into. If you wear UGG boots try not to wear them often, and don't wear them if it's warm outside. I know it sounds strange but there are people out there who do wear their UGG boots during the summer months. Any boots or shoes with wool, or wool like lining inside collect moisture and make your feet sweat. It's the type of environment that bacteria thrives in. If you plan on walking around in leather sandals make sure to break them in before hand.
The next step to getting your feet beautiful for summer is to keep them soft and moisturized. Soft feet can't happen unless you wash them properly, scrub them gently to remove dead skin, and moisturize them with products that contains vitamin E. Your feet will be exposed to a lot of dirt, debris and heat during the summer so make sure to keep them moisturize or they'll start looking dry and ashy.
The last step to beautifying your feet is to make sure to keep the nails trimmed. I really hope that's a given to everyone. No one should walk around with hobbit feet, it's not pretty. Keep your nails short, clean and polished. French pedicures are out this summer, but if you must do them do it subtly, don't make it so obvious with the thick white strip. As for nail color, the sky is the limit, go wild. My personal favorites tend to be light pinks and flesh tones, or dark colors like royal purple and deep blue.
Whatever you have plan for the summer, don't forget your feet. Aside from beautifying them and keeping them soft and gorgeous, don't forget to protect them. Always wear footwear on surfaces outside of the beach, and don't forget to use sunscreen or sunblock on them.
