Tips to Keep Feet Healthy in Winter

No one likes dry, cracked and raw feet in the winter time. The feeling of putting socks on over dry skin is the absolute worst feeling in the world. However, having dry feet is curable, it's easy to fix. The winter season brings a lot of dry weather, therefore drying out your skin. When you live in a 4 season climate location, your body has a hard time adjusting to each new season. If you live in a 2 season climate location, your body would be used to the same type of weather condition all year.

Here are some great solutions to making your feet feel moisturized:

The first step to healthy feet, is to making sure you moisturize your feet every morning before putting your socks and shoes on. This will help lock in some of the moisture to last you most of the day. However, if your feet are already dry and cracked, you're going to need some more intense treatment to reverse the dryness.

Vaseline can be your best friend this winter with these great tips:

First, you'll need a junky pair of socks that you aren't concerned about getting ruined, and a container of Vaseline. At night before you go to bed, slather the Vaseline over the dry spots on your feet, and apply generously in order to insure that the Vaseline can sink into your skin. Without rubbing any excess Vaseline away, put your socks on and climb into bed for the night. While you're sleeping, the Vaseline is being locked onto your skin, and the moisture is working the dryness out because of the socks locking all the moisture in. When you wake up, remove the socks and wash away the excess Vaseline. You'll be amazed at how much better your feet feel. You should repeat this nightly for as long as necessary. Once your feet are at point where they aren't dry anymore, the Vaseline won't be necessary every night, but you'll definitely want to treat your feet at least once a week to prevent the dry skin from coming back.

Another great tip is to use a paraffin wax, it's usually used for hands in a salon, but it works great with feet as well. It does get hot, so you'll need to be careful to avoid burns, but applying the paraffin wax on a regular basis will make your feet feel smoother than ever.

A tip that many people don't love to do is to use a pumice which will scrape away all of the dry skin. This may not be the most comfortable treatment, but it's a great step to take before applying the Vaseline or a paraffin wax. If pumice is really not for you, then the other options will definitely work after some time.

Once your feet have become extremely dry, the solutions can take a few days to really work. No treatment will work overnight, so sticking with a nightly moisturizing routine will have you back on track to having healthier and smoother feet.
