Tips on How to Keep Pests Out of Your Car

Keeping pests out of your car is an essential to happy driving. To keep them out of your car, like any other aspect in life, you will need to clean it.

Cleaning your car is much more difficult, then cleaning other things around your home. Sure a car wash will clean the outside but what about the inside. I do not just mean the empty cartons of fast food and drinks. I am talking about cleaning the smell of mice and other woodland creatures out of your car.

The first thing you need to do is remove the larger things such as candy wrappers and old tennis shoes. This can be disgusting if you have not cleaned in a wile.

Next you will, if possible, want to take out any floor mats that you have. You can wash them separate and hang them out to dry. Now that the mats are out you should either see the bare metal or second carpeting that can not be removed? It is also important to remember in what order the mats came out, and where they go. It can get a little confusing later.

Now that the mats are out, get a portable vacuum or a regular one with a lot of extension cords and start to vacuum your car out. Try your best it will not be possible to clean everything in such cramped conditions.

Once you have vacuumed, it is time for a bucket of soapy water and a sponge or rag. Be careful when washing the car you do not want a lot off water to get on the fabrics because it takes a long time to dry and encourages rust. You do not need to wash the floors if you reviled bare metal. Now that the fabrics of the car are wet and soapy, go over them with a plain water sponge. Again do not put to much water on the car.

Now that the washing is complete, take a dry towel or two and dry the car as much as you can. You do not want it to encourage rust.

After the car is dry you will want to wash the carpeting you took out. Then let that dry.

Check the glove box, hood, and every place a small creature can get. Make sure there are no nests around. Remember a mouse can fit its body in several places.

Now that everything is dry spray Febreze. On everything to remove any smells. Replace everything back to its intended spots. Then your car is clean, And pest free. Now to keep it that way you can put drier sheets, I am not kidding, in to ward off mice. Also never eat or leave food in your vehicle that will attract them.
