Tips on How to Get a Laugh by Telling a Joke

Would you like to be a hit at the next party? Would you like to tell a joke that can get you some laughs? Try these tips.

Don't Be Afraid

If you want to tell a joke, don't be afraid to start. Is there a bad time to tell a joke? Yes. If someone is sick, bleeding, if someone just died or if someone is crying really hard, you might want to skip the joke. However, if there is just a lull in the conversation, go for it.

Don't Tell People You Are Going To Tell A Joke

Jokes don't have to be announced. They are just told. So when you are ready, just start the joke.

Stick With The Type Of Jokes People Love

You know the jokes people loves. People love jokes about men versus women. People love jokes that allow us to put ourselves down about something. Adults love jokes about teenagers, especially if they are parents to some. People love jokes about technology and body functions.

Skip the Jokes That Will Get You In Trouble

There are subjects that are taboo. It is better to skip these types of jokes. These can include jokes about: race, religion, weight and politics (you never know who is on what side of an issue).

Practice Your Jokes

Have you heard the word practice makes perfect. This one is true. What is truer? Perfect practice makes perfect. This means if you can practice in front of a mirror before you try the joke on a crowd or at least try the joke on a friend or two.

End With the Crowd Loving You

Once you get your laugh, stop. Don't push it. This means you shouldn't keep trying to get the laughs. If you push too hard, you may end up saying some lame things and end up looking lame. Stick with one or two jokes and call it a night.
