Tip Number One:
Set aside two days a week just to care for your nails. Invest some organized, focused time just for your nails. Hang up a calendar with two days a week marked and times set in your schedule just to care for your nails.
Tip Number Two:
Keep your nails from getting brittle. The chemicals that we use in soaps and cleaning detergents as well as weather changes impact the health of our nails. It is important that we replenish the natural oils in our nails. You will need to purchase a nail oil from a beauty supply store near you. They will have a variety. Some will have different scents. Take the time to choose a scent that you like and then make your purchase. Place a small amount on your nails one at a time and gently in circular motions rub the oil in to your cuticle and nail bed. Do this twice a week on the natural nail (remove polish first). Wash your hands and nails after you use the oil (it will penitrate quickly into your nails and skin). You will notice that your nails become healthier just from restoring the natural oils. You can reapply polish after you wash the excess oil off of the nail. After a month of caring for your nails like this you can begin to do this once weekly.
Tip Number Three:
Purchase professional nail polish only. The local beauty supply has a great variety of high quality nail polish that will apply a strong lasting polish to your nail bed. This polish will last longer and will give more strength to the nail than a store bought polish. Purchase a bottom coat polish, a color polish, and a clear fast drying top coat. Reapply your polish twice a week when you oil your nails (as your nails become healthy and long you may be able to extend the length of your re-polish to once a week).
Tip Number Four:
Take vitamens that will help your nails grow. Vitamen B6 is very essential in both hair and nail strength and growth. The health store sells vitamens designed for healthy hair and nails. These vitamens will supply your body with the needed essential nutrinets that you need for healthy nails, skin and hair.
Long, healthy nails will replace brittle, short nails as you are consistent and apply these suggested nail tips. Enjoy your new, healthy, long nails.
