Tips for Losing Weight like The Biggest Loser

For those of us watching from home, the Biggest Loser is an inspirational weight loss show. Knowing that you don't have Jillian or Bob, the lack of time restraints or a fully-stocked gym right there may make you think that the contestants are nothing like you. Think again! You're not that different - you just have to learn to budget your time, control your eating and motivate yourself to diet and exercise. You may not be able to lose weight as fast, but you can lose it consistently. Want to lose weight like the contestants on the Biggest Loser? Follow in their steps.

Eat better. On the Biggest Loser, the contestants follow a low-calorie diet rich in fruits, vegetables and whole grains. They are careful about portions. In general, women dieting should eat no less than 1300-1500 calories a day, and men should stick around 2000 calories a day. Remember that all you have to do is lower your calorie intake, and doing it gradually will make it a lot easier for you. Cutting 200 calories every week or two prevents extreme hunger and allows your body to adjust to the calorie level without going into shock.

Exercise more. You don't have to work out 6 hours a day to see results. Add in 30 minutes to your current routine, and you'll burn more calories. Once you're comfortable with that, add in another 30 minutes.

Join a gym based on your interests. You don't have to have every piece of equipment or every single fitness class, because you're only going to use what you like. Just find a gym with the equipment or classes you like.

Start a club. You're more likely to lose weight if you've got the support of your friends. What better way to get your friends involved than to compete in your own Biggest Loser? Get together some friends, set up a winnings pool and get going. When there's money and bragging rights on the line, everyone wants to win.

If you follow these simple guidelines that the Biggest Loser contestants follow, you'll lose weight. Remember that they may be simple, but they are far from easy. You can do it, though - just like the contestants do. You just have to stick to it and never give up!
