Tips to Maintain Healthy Hair, Naturally

Greg Seltz
When referring to healthy hair, most individuals assume that achieving maximum potential results is only achieved by spending money. This is not always the case, however. In fact, the nutrients digested in the body are responsible for providing adequate nourishment. Obviously, genetics play a supporting factor in hair type; but maintaining health care is primarily up to you. You don't need to spend $40 on the hot, new shampoo or conditioner that hit the market. The Earth provides for all our vitamin and nutrient sources, yet we find ourselves paying for manufactured supplements that may contain other harmful ingredients or chemicals. Let's go over a few ways we can eliminate these costly expenses.

Foods loaded with Vitamin B are what we are looking for. Vitamin B assists the body with digestion, muscle development, and.....cell growth. It affects the nature of our skin, nails, and hair. Foods that are rich in Vitamin B include fruits, green vegetables, and a variety of others. Omega-3 fatty acids are also known to provide you with a kickin, healthy scalp as well as iron to strengthen the hair cells. And finally, most of us get our fair share of protein, but just in case you don't, you need to start! Other Vitamins such as A & C are vital to produce sebum. Sebum, you ask? That's right; sebum allows the scalp to manifest an oily substance within the hair follicles.....the scalp's very own conditioner. I've included a link below for further research.

Next time you go shopping, be sure to look for some of these foods and incorporate them into your new, healthy eating routine. For foods that are high in Vitamin B, Omega-3, and iron, you will need to head towards the fish cooler. Salmon and sardines are a few to name, and the best sources if you can enjoy the taste. Omega-3 fatty acids also come in the form of liquid and cooking oil. Dark green vegetables contain our sources of A&C; spinach, broccoli, etc. Would you believe that beans like lentils and kidney beans are proficient sources of iron and biotin? Lack of biotin can cause the hair to damage easily. A good dosage of biotin will strengthen the hair and enable better growth with less breakage. Other known sources good for hair growth are eggs, nuts, and chicken. It doesn't appear we need to introduce much for this new diet; all the good stuff is listed!

Finally, I understand that other hair products are the culprits that require expensive hair care. Hair dyes, styling products, curlers, etc. are what we all need to fashion our style. Many of these items create more hair problems, which eventually result in spending more money to remedy these problems. I have included a few tricks that I discovered long ago to promote better hair care after using this gunk to look good. A few hair conditioners that can be used on a weekly basis are rotten bananas and avocados. Cover the head with plastic wrap afterwards and let sit for 20-30 mins before washing. Once you wash, shampoo with some apple cider vinegar. Vinegar will clean the hair as well as other shampoos on the market, and leave a shiny gloss as well. It will, however, dry out your hair. This is where I cheat. I use a leave in conditioner afterwards to moisten the scalp, but it is also strong enough to style short haircuts.

I understand that genetics alters all of our hair types, which cause some individuals to result in different products, remedies, etc. The purpose of this article is to motivate you to find your own solutions to a healthy head of hair; after all, this Earth is abundant with resources to suffice our needs.
