The holidays can be very stressful with shopping, planning dinner, traveling for Christmas, that maintaining your health is a vital. Stress is can cause illness and depression during the holidays so here are a few tips on staying healthy.
One way is to get your eight hours of sleep. Sleep deprivation can impair the immune system, our ability to think and how we handle stress, which has an impact on our emotional state. Sleep is the body's way of recouping our waking hours. It is very important to our health.
Eating well is another helpful tip for maintaining health during the holidays. What I mean is don't snack on sweets, or too fatty foods, you need to keep with the healthy choices. A few indulgences won't hurt but keep it to a minimum. Weight gain is associated with the holidays because we consume our daily caloric intake in a few hours than spread out through the day. And we know what weight gain does to our psyche.
Drinking alcohol beverages during the holidays is what is consumed at holiday parties. Alcohol is a depressant and it lowers the body's nervous system that it impairs speech, balance, concentration, vision, coordination and judgment. The stress of the holidays can heighten the affects of drinking alcohol beverages so be responsible and drink sparsely.
Washing your hands often will help in keeping the virus visiting during the holiday. Wash your hands before and after preparing foods, eating, sneezing and coughing. We pick up germs on our hands throughout the day and washing the hands properly will limit the transfer of viruses, bacteria, and other illness causing microbes. Washing doesn't illuminate them but lowers the numbers on your hands that can be transferred by touching the eyes and nose.
Maintaining health during the holidays can be easy with a little effort.
