Many people are able to maintain the muscle mass, but they lose the definition that is visible. This article will guide you through a definitive way to keep your muscles looking tone and defined.

Diet

Your diet is one of the most important aspects of earning and maintaining muscle mass. A good diet not only consists of healthy food, but of a healthy schedule. It's recommended that you eat many small meals a day, 5 or 6, instead of 3 large meals. It's also recommended that these meals take place at roughly the same time everyday, so that your body is not confused to when it's going to be supplied with food. Try to take in about the same amount of calories each day, and add or subtract depending on how you're progressing.

What you're eating is also very important when it comes to maintaining muscle mass, proteins are extremely important when it comes to the upkeep of your muscles. Eggs, fish, legumes, nuts are all foods carrying a healthy amount of proteins for you to consume. It's important that you watch the number of calories along with the number of proteins you ingest.

Exercise

It's important to continue a strong exercise regiment while attempting to maintain your muscle mass, by doing both cardio and weight training.

Weight training is very important to keep your muscles at their peek and it's recommended that you challenge them every time you're at the gym. Try maxing out, but like usual, don't overdo it by putting any extra stain on them. If you're already on a workout schedule, it's important that you maintain that schedule after you reach your desired look so that you can keep it.

Cardio is often overlooked, but it's extremely vital in getting you the look you desire. Cardio is a great way to burn excess fat and build some muscle at the same time. Cardio will boost your endurance and should be done daily. It's important that when you do cardio to 'hit it hard' instead of long. You should run, not jog, try to challenge yourself as much as possible for the best results.
