First, make sure your check your tire pressure. Low tire pressure can lead to a few different problems. Low tire pressure will reduce your fuel mileage. Second, change your air filter yearly. The dirty air conditions that are typically associated with city driving will lead to a clogged air filter if it is not changed on a regular basis.

You can find a list of top tier gasoline suppliers on-line. Several are likely to be available in your area and a top tier gas is not usually any more expensive than a lesser gasoline.

Change your oil frequently. The stop and go driving and short trips that you are likely to encounter in city driving can be detrimental to your oil. Short trips can lead to fuel dilution of the oil and water condensing within the oil. Both of these conditions affect the oil's ability to properly lubricate.

Consider gasoline additive designed to clean the intake and remove deposits from your vehicle. The gasoline additive is cheap assurance that the internals of your engine are in pristine condition.

Inspect your brakes regularly. Stop and go driving can be tough on your brakes. Inspect them for wear each year and replace as needed.

Replace your spark plugs. Spark plugs can become dirty and can foul out if not replaced on a regular basis. The demanding city driving is likely to leave additional deposits on the spark plugs and will likely lead to a need for replacement.

Replace your cabin filter. The cabin filter removes odors and pollutants from the air before it enters your vehicle. By replacing the filter the interior air quality will be greatly increased thus reducing the harmful smog and odors present in city situations.
