High blood pressure is a known as the "silent killer" because often time people don't realize that they have it. High blood pressure can cause numerous complications such as heart attacks, strokes and kidney failure. Some people do not have any symptoms for years and are at risk. High blood pressure is a problem among Americans, especially among African Americans. With obesity being a growing problem upon Americans high blood pressure is still on the rise.

Once you have been diagnosed by doctor as having high blood pressure it is important to have your high blood pressure carefully managed by doctors. Most often blood pressure is managed through blood pressure pills, diet and daily exercise.

A person with high blood pressure should avoid high fats and greasy foods. Some doctors recommend that people with this condition should also closely watch their salt content in food. They should avoid foods with high sodium. Whenever you go grocery shopping, it is important to read the food labels to see how much salt content in your foods.

Using herbs as daily regiments is another thing can be done to assist with managing high blood pressure. Herbal regiments should be used under the advice of your doctor.
