There are some simple techniques you can use in managing your time. The first step is to start looking at your schedule; you can do this by utilizing a calendar or day planner to start taking a closer look at your time. People who are technology savvy, may like to program and plug their schedules on their phones, such as a Black Berry; while others may want to use a calendar program on their computer.
Another step is to write a To Do List. A To Do List is an excellent way to start writing down everything that you need to get done each and every day. When you start jotting down your to do list, you should write down the list of projects base on priority. Start looking at where your time is going.
The second step is to evaluate your time. You need to start prioritizing your time to see which task is important to you. Stop procrastinating on projects and activities that needs prompt attention or is time sensitive.
Another tip is to learn how to say "no" sometimes. Sometimes, you have to say no to projects or tasks that are not a priority in your life. For example if you have a passion to go back to school to pursue your degree and you have a lot a responsible likes being a single parent and working a full job, you would have little free to hang out with your girlfriends. You have to say no to things that will pull you away from your purpose and passion. It is nice to do for others but in order to go further in life you to have to also do for yourself.
The fourth tip is to avoid tangents. It is so easy to get off track when you are not on purpose. If you are not careful a tangent can lead you away from your goals and dreams in life. For example, you are suppose to finish a financial report that is due the next day for your job but instead you go off on a tangent and become glued to the T.V. set, does this sounds familiar?
Make sure your daily tasks incorporate your purpose. For example if you are a writer and wants to write a book, you can try to fit some time out of your busy schedule to write on that novel that you have dreamed of completing. If you are interested in pursuing your education you fit studying time to work into your busy schedule. You have to weigh each project and task to see which ones will bring you closer to prosperity.
Managing your time enables you to bring clarity and focus into your life. Once you value your time and see where your time is going you will begin to accomplish bigger goals and your dreams shall come true.
