Tips for Multi-Level Marketers

Chance McMillan
I'm probably not saying anything that most successful online marketers don't already know, but I want to get this out there anyway because it's something that's been bugging me for a bit now - and it's something that I've come to terms with (and am still guilty of here and there which is why I'm conscious of it).

STOP SELLING YOUR PRODUCT TO ME!

How often do you buy something from the salesman that comes to your door? I can't say that I EVER have, so stop being that guy. YES, it is a numbers game and eventually someone might buy that product or that program if you're really convincing, but if it's truly a numbers game why not turn the numbers in your favor.

Why not tell people about your product or service once they've raised their hand and wanted to know more about it because how many times have you bought something that you had a genuine interest in, researched, looked at, were familiar with?

I think this is something that multi-level marketers must realize (myself included).

You ARE NOT SELLING YOUR PRODUCT with multi-level marketing. You're selling people. It's great that you're familiar with your product or your service and that you know it inside and out, but that won't help you if you don't have a downline.

Be familiar with your product, YES. But be more familiar with PEOPLE. Understand what THEY want, not what you have to offer them, but like my good buddy Warren says, become their SOLUTION.

Once you understand people your downline is still doomed to failure unless you help these people and train these people to understand people themselves. You're not making that life long residual income you set out to acquire if your retention rate is 0%. Think outside the box and really go out of your way to help train the people below you so they can enjoy the same success that you have, and MOST IMPORTANTLY so they'll be able to be a mentor to their downline. That's what has to happen for a MLM to be successful.

Good advice. It's important to know your product, but if you don't know who you're selling it to, you're just wasting your time.

Very important point here. MLM is a weird sales model, really. Effective if you can figure it out though.

Amen. I know to ask if I see something I like and people are indeed more that just what they are selling. Good article to share here.
