If, fact in many human inflicted injuries, especially those done by a loved one or relative, both physical and emotional damage will occur only the emotional harm basically always lasts much longer. Though more painful in the long run, emotional damage is more difficult to identify. This is because not only are there not actually signs such as marks or wounds, but a victim can easily hide their emotional pain, and he or she will only get better and better at deceiving them self and others.

Emotional abuse can materialize in many ways and come from countless areas of a person's life. Criticism and insults are the most common, but certainly not the only forms of emotional abuse. Control of another person by way of restriction from friends, school, or fun is another less thought of form of emotional abuse. Such control may be administered by parents, guardians, spouse, or a boyfriend/girlfriend.

As a result, the victim will usually feel incapable, worthless, and have low self-esteem. Though it is a difficult task, knowing and reassuring oneself that it is not his or her wrong doing in a situation of emotional abuse is important in maintaining his or her happiness and personality.

While it is known that every individuals situation of emotional abuse is distinctively unique with numerous variables, generally the following tips and steps will aid one neutralizing emotional abuse.

First, one must remain well self kept. The most effective way of doing this is eating a balanced and healthy diet. Eating foods that are high in minerals and vitamins while laying off sugary, fattening, and less nutritious foods is obviously key. Lean proteins, fruit, vegetables, and whole grains are the foods types that need to be consumed most often. In addition to eating well, one should take vitamins. Either vitamins in the specified A B C form or multivitamins can be purchased. Fish oil is also very good for health. One can see a doctor who will determine the best combination of vitamins and foods. The doctor can also recommend a certain level of exercise one should be active with. Not only does exercise makes he body healthier, but it makes you feel and look better. Having a strong and satisfying self image will be very rewarding and benefiting to counter attacking emotional abuse.

Next, one should maintain an open door of communication with close friends and family. Surround oneself with good company, laughter, and joy will help with canceling out the negative self thoughts emotional abuse is likely to create. Such close friends and family can act as coaches in pushing, inspiring, and encouraging a victim to believe in his or her self and making good choices.

Finally if possible, if he or she is able to, one should try to avoid contact with the individual or individuals who cause emotional damage. The less contact , the better. Depending on the relationship the victim has with the abuser, when interaction must take place, he or she needs to try to keep conversing to a strictly business oriented and necessary chat. If the discussion begins to head towards or consist of person acquisitions or criticism, disengage immediately. One must do their best to reframe from defending them self for this will only make the talk last longer and become more in-depth.
